Fundraising Tips
Getting Started - Register & Fundraising
- Register: Sign up at p2p.onecause.com/tapestrywalk2026. You'll get a personal fundraising page right away.
- Personalize your page: Update your photo and add a note about why you're walking. People tend to give more when they know why it matters to you!
- Start asking: A personal text, call, or email. Ask one person at a time when you can, with a direct link to your personal fundraising page.
- Follow up: A friendly follow-up a week or two later shows you mean it.
- Thank your donors: A quick thank-you goes a long way. Let people know what they helped make possible.
Pathways to Raise Money
There is no single right way to fundraise. Here are the approaches our team has found to work best; use one or try them all!
Personal outreach (texts, calls, emails, and social): The most effective thing you can do is ask people directly, one at a time. A personal message that explains why you're walking will always outperform a mass post. You don't need to write the perfect message, just tell people why Tapestry matters to you and ask for their support. See the email and text templates in this toolkit to get started.
- Post on social media: Share your fundraising page on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn and tell your network why you're walking. Tag @TapestryWMass and use #WalkForEveryBody, we'll reshare your posts and help you reach more people. Update your followers as you hit milestones. Progress posts motivate donors who haven't donated yet.
- Set a team goal and share it: If you're a team captain, set a collective fundraising goal and share it with your team. Tracking progress together creates momentum and friendly competition. Let your team know where you stand each week; it keeps people engaged and motivated to push toward the finish line.
Think bigger than your inner circle: Old coworkers, neighbors, your dentist, your pottery class instructor, your parents' friends, people who know and trust you will often say yes simply because you asked. Expect that roughly 1 in 4 people you ask will say yes, so cast a wide net.
Ask people who can't walk to donate: Not everyone can make it on September 27th, but they can still support you. Reach out to people who can't attend and ask them to donate to your fundraising page instead.
What's the minimum I need to raise?
There's no minimum! Every dollar raised supports Tapestry's mission. However, we encourage walkers to aim for $250-$500 to maximize their impact.
How do I ask people for donations?
Be personal and specific:
- Share why Tapestry Health's mission matters to you
- Mention specific services (like the 40,000+ encounters last year)
- Include impact stories from the community
- Make it easy with direct links to your fundraising page
Sample ask: "I'm walking for Tapestry Health because everyone deserves access to compassionate, judgment-free healthcare. Last year alone, Tapestry provided over 40,000 encounters and distributed nearly $5 million in food benefits. Will you support my walk with a $25 donation?"
How will my fundraising goals make a difference?
Your fundraising directly supports:
- Medication abortion services and reproductive healthcare
- Gender-affirming care for LGBTQ+ community members
- WIC nutrition programs for families
- Sliding scale fees to ensure no one is turned away
- Mobile Clinic operations reaching underserved communities
