The Big Challenge

April 20, 2020

Dear Friends of Big Brothers Big Sisters,

I write to you because we have an opportunity to invest in Big Brothers Big Sisters and have everything matched ($1 for $1) by one of our board members.

No one could have anticipated the challenges Big Brothers Big Sisters is facing today because of the COVID-19. Despite social distancing, we are keeping Bigs and Littles connected through technology and increased contact from our Bigs and staff. Click here to watch news coverage from last weekend on how the agency is still supporting mentoring matches virtually!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana budgeted $1,764,000 to bring in by June 30, 2020, with funding coming from a variety of sources, including Bowl For Kids’ Sake, special events, grants, foundations and individuals. But through forces beyond our control and the need for social distancing to beat COVID-19, we had to cancel many of these in-person fundraisers.  This has left us with a shortfall of $250,000 dollars.

From April to June, Big Brothers Big Sisters is conducting “The Big Challenge” to help close this funding shortfall. As a bonus incentive during the month of April, a generous board member will match every new gift $1 for $1. That means we can close this gap by turning a $5,000 gift into $10,000.

As you know, I’m a long-time supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters.  I’ve seen the impact firsthand and I know that one-to-one mentoring fills a gap for children and families who have no other connections or resources. I hope you will consider making an investment at this time.

You can easily make your gift online https://p2p.onecause.com/thebigchallenge or mail your check to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, 1519 Gardiner Lane, Louisville, Ky. 40218.

I know with your support we are stronger together.
