OUR HONOREES: RYAN JAMAAL SWAIN

Ryan Jamaal Swain currently stars as Damon in Ryan Murphy’s Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series Pose on FX. Ryan was just named to Forbes Magazine’s coveted “30 Under 30” list for his LGBTQ+ activism. He made his Broadway debut in Tarrell Alvin McCraney’s Choir Boy earlier this year. Prior to making his small screen and Broadway debut, Swain made a name for himself performing in numerous theatrical productions including Paul in Six Degrees of Separation (Keegan Theatre, Washington, D.C.), Jasen in the world premiere of 295N (Signature Theatre, Washington, D.C.), Wisdom in Thoughts of a Colored Man (GALA Hispanic Theatre), and Moritz in Spring Awakening (City Equity Theater, Birmingham, Alabama). ACR Health and The Q Center are honoring Ryan at The Q Awards in recognition of his outstanding LGBTQ activism and representation in the media. He has set an incredible example for LGBTQ youth that anything is possible when you believe in yourself.

OUR HONOREES: TOBY HERVEY

CEO & Co-Founder, Bravely

Toby began his career at the Gilt Groupe, where he was a founding team member of Gilt MAN and Gilt City. He then went on to lead strategy and business development for high-growth startups including Waywire, a video-based social network founded by Cory Booker that sold to Magnify.net in 2013, and Timehop, a time capsule mobile app.

Before co-founding Bravely, Toby helped improve the patient experience at Pager, an on- demand healthcare app. The first employee, he served as the VP of Operations and General Manager, overseeing the company’s national operations group, expansion efforts, and growth initiatives. During Toby’s time with Pager, the company raised $30mm in venture financing and built a team of 60 full-time employees based in New York.

Toby is also a long-time member and President Emeritus of the Board of Directors for Out in Tech, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering aspiring LGBTQ tech leaders.

The Q Centers of Central New York


The Q Center is a safe space for LGBTQ youth ages 8-26, in Central New York. http://www.acrhealth.org/youth/the-q-center ; we are a standalone drop in center and provide support groups, social events, tutoring, GED prep, college scholarships, nutrition, safe transportation, case management, HIV/STD testing, mental health counseling and insurance enrollment…we have also been known to rescue youth in the middle of the night and get them to safe housing and direction to other support services.
