About TPG Throwdown

The TPG Throwdown is back for the second year in a row!  We challenge all the backyard dominating, summer BBQ bragging, tailgate crushing cornhole wannabees to come show their skills!  Grab your partner for this cornhole fundraiser.
This year’s event will benefit two local nonprofits – A Village for One and Sam Day Foundation.  Together, we can help them expand their programs and continue in our local community.
A Village for One (AV41) is working to unite our community to uplift, support, and heal youth impacted by sexual exploitation and trafficking. They do this by providing a safe and healthy environment of healing for impacted youth through training, outreach, and advocacy. AV41 is building their second therapeutic safe home for female and female-identifying youth (ages 12–17) who are survivors of commercial sex trafficking. With our support, AV41 will be able to purchase a transit van to take survivors to offsite therapeutic activities and community reintegration outings. The funds from the TPG Throwdown will be used entirely towards the purchase of a van, estimated at $50,000.
Sam Day Foundation (SDF) advances research for childhood and young adult cancers and facilitates wellness-centered support and experiences so kids with cancer can survive and live well. Through the support of the TPG Throwdown, SDF hopes to hire a new staff person dedicated to executing a development plan. SDF currently has partnerships with several highly competent and driven researchers who are eager to find cures and create less toxic treatments for cancer – but they require additional funding to carry out their research. A fulltime development person will allow SDF to increase the amount of funds used to accelerate desperately needed research all the way to the bedside of a child in need. In addition, a development team member would help sustain a new wellness program that would offer nutritional and emotional health resources to kids and families dealing with cancer.

Why Participate?

Because it's fun! And because it means so much to those who benefit.

Join us with friends, family, and co-workers for a friendly (yet competive) day of cornhole in support of our chosen beneficiaries -- you may choose to 1) participate in two-person teams at the event itself; 2) become a corporate or individual sponsor in support of the event; or 3) all of the above!

At our inaugural Throwdown in 2022, TPG President Sarah Friend said, “We dreamed of this day for years. Our goal was to raise $25,000 each for our beneficiaries and, through the generosity of our participants, sponsors, and spectators, we were able to better that goal.” That event raised $70,000 for our chosen non-profits!

How Your Support Makes a Difference

We have big goals. And so do our beneficiaries.

The Foundation’s focus is on root-cause issues and corresponding non-profits, so that TPG can:

  1. help our communities thrive, and
  2. support the next generation in moving upward and onward.

The goal is to “move the needle forward” for a small, select group of non-profit organizations so that they achieve their big goals. We want to give significant and game-changing gifts to those non-profits that are making a big difference.

Thank you for your support!
