About Hike for Huntington's 100km Ultra

Thank you for your interest in supporting Bobby and Liz in the Ultra Hike for Huntington disease!

On October 4th, 2021, Bobby Jinkinson and Liz Hobbs will be running 100km for a fundraising initiative on behalf of the Huntington’s Society of Canada (HSC).

HSC aspires to a world free from Huntington Disease (HD). Together, with your support, HSC maximizes the quality of life of people living with HD through services, support, advocacy, and research.

One in every 7,000 Canadians has HD, a devastating, degenerative brain disorder. The symptoms are like having Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and ALS in one disease. Every child of a parent with HD has a 50% chance of inheriting the disease.

There is currently no cure. Please show your support and help the HD Community find meaningful treatments!

A message from Bobby and Liz

Bobby and Liz have been friends since their days of high school wrestling. Since then, they have lived and worked across Canada and the world, but have returned to call the Ottawa area home.

One day, at their local gym, Between the Bumpers, run by Bobby’s cousin and Liz’s good friend, Bobby approached Liz with an idea. “I want to run an ultra-marathon, and you’re the only person I could think of that would be crazy enough to do it with me! All I need is a charity- a cause to do it for.”

Bobby approached Liz with this idea days after the cancellation of the Roche phase III trial; of which Liz’s mom had been a participant and was 16 weeks away from receiving drug therapy.

From then, it was a done deal. Bobby and Liz are training to push their bodies and minds in a way they’ve never come close to doing before. They aim to show themselves and their community that, “you don’t need to be a doctor, wealthy philanthropist, or in a position of power to make a difference. You just need the courage to take a single step.”

On October 4th, they plan on taking over 130,000 steps each towards a cure for Huntington’s Disease.
