About Walk For Hope

The 2nd Annual Walk for Hope event will take place virtually in 2020.  Register and receive a Walk for Hope t-shirt and your own fundraising page.  Your fundraising page will allow you to share your campaign with friends and family and on social media to help the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter raise funds to continue the mission of providing a safe haven, high-quality care and hope for the future.  The funds raised through this event will support education programs at the Shelter.

Steps to Success:

1.  Register on this site to participate.  Adults - $25 and Students (17 & under) - $15.  You will receive a Walk for Hope t-shirt with your registration.  T-shirt sizes will be secured if you register by October 7th.  After that date we cannot guarantee sizes.

2.  Customize & Share your personal fundraising page.  Add a picture and a story about why you are participating and then share it on social media.

3.  Pick up your t-shirts on Wednesday, October 20th or Thursday, October 21st from 4-6 PM at Scissortail Subdivision Clubhouse - 4407 Scissortail Drive in Bentonville.  If you are unable to pick your items up during these times, please contact Carla Laing at claing@nwacs.org to make other arrangements.

4.  Select your time and location to walk between October 21-October 31.  Put your shirts or your costumes on and go for a walk of whatever distance you prefer and whatever location is best for you (neighborhood, trails, downtown, etc...).  Make sure you take pictures to share with us to show your support of #nwacswalkforhope2020

Why Participate?

Since 1993, we have provided a safe haven and loving care to more than 11,000 children from throughout the state of Arkansas. These children have all suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect, but with the guidance of our Shelter team and the support of the Northwest Arkansas community, we are showing them the way to a brighter future. In 2019 alone, we provided over 170,000 hours of care to children in crisis.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

The Emergency Shelter program focuses on meeting the basic needs of the children so they can begin to feel safe and to heal from the trauma they have experienced. Meeting these basic needs is one of the first ways that our staff can begin to build trust with the children in our care – many of whom have never been able to trust the adults in their lives. These basic needs include: A warm bed, consistent, balanced meals, healthy snacks, clean, well-fitting clothing, access to baths/showers and personal hygiene items and most importantly - Loving care provided 24-hours per day
