Greetings friends of #teamjoaquin! 🧡


The annual National Kidney Foundation of Illinois Walk for Kidneys is coming up soon — Sunday,  June 7. 


Each year, we invite loved ones to join us in our effort to support NKFI and the  incredible work they do to help those dealing with kidney failure, needing a transplant and their families. 


It’s hard to believe this will be #teamjoaquin fifth year participating! Our very first walk in 2022 came just weeks after we learned that a donor had been found and Joaquin’s transplant surgery date had been set. The following year, our incredible angel donor, Stephanie Andersen, joined us for the walk — a moment we will never forget.


This year, we will walk in loving memory of our dear friend and chosen family, Howard Frum. Every year, Howard Frum Jewelers generously sponsored our team t-shirts, and Howard and Bunny walked faithfully beside us, just as they have throughout our kidney journey. Their love and support have meant more than words can say.


We would love to see as many of our dear friends, family members, and supporters as possible walking with #teamjoaquin this year. Let’s make this Walk for Kidneys especially meaningful together.

After the walk, we’ll be treating our team to lunch! If we have our own tent again this year, we may even bring back the food truck tradition from last year. 🌮✨


***For those unfamiliar with the event, the Walk for Kidneys is a three-mile walk beginning at Diversey Harbor on Sunday, June 7 at 9:00 AM. Funds raised support kidney disease research, public education, and patient services for Illinois residents and their families. This year’s fundraising goal is $280,000, and nearly 90% of funds raised go directly toward the cause.
