Dr. Rakoski received her Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed Internal Medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.  She completed her Gastroenterology as well as Transplant Hepatology fellowships at University of Michigan where she also obtained a Master of Science degree in Health and Health Care Research. 


Dr. Rakoski is an experienced hepatologist, specializing in management in chronic liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver transplantation.  Her research and clinical interests focus on improving care for patients with advanced liver disease and liver cancer through early integration of Palliative Care and advance care planning. She is a co-investigator and Chair of the Training, Education, and Dissemination Subcommittee of a multi-center clinical trial (PAL-Liver), funded by Patient Centered Outcomes Research Initiative (PCORI).  This study investigates a novel approach of integrating palliative care into hepatology clinics.  She has presented on palliative care and liver disease at several national meetings and has also written several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on this topic for premier journals and textbooks in the fields of Liver Transplant and Palliative Care.
