We Are Hair for You
Elaine’s Hair Donation and Head Shave Fundraiser

Although I’ve dealt with several health issues in my life, I’ve been lucky to not have experienced cancer. Many of my family, friends and colleagues can’t say the same. I have marvelled at their strength and resilience as they battled the disease themselves or supported loved ones through diagnosis and treatment. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s a battle that can’t be won.

Over the past several months, as the world watched scientists develop, test and deploy a COVID-19 vaccine in record time, I was struck by what’s possible when resources are directed to tackling a health crisis. While I can’t raise the same money that helped create a COVID-19 vaccine, I can do my part to help fund the fight against cancer.

I have been growing my hair since the start of the pandemic, at first because of public health restrictions, but later just to see how long it would get. It got really, really long and now I’m ready to shed it all for a good cause.

On June 30, I will be donating my hair to Alfred’s Hair Transitions to help with making hair pieces for children battling cancer and shaving my head to raise funds to support cancer research. I will be live streaming the event through Zoom and will send all donors a link so they can watch the shearing.

I hope you’ll support my fundraising event. I believe it’s up to all of us to underwrite the research needed to save lives and bring us closer to a cure.
