Any gift of $100 or more qualifies for a 70% Missouri Domestic Violence Shelter Tax Credit! For instance, donate $500 and your net out-of-pocket for the donation could be only $86 – $106.* That is one more big reason to donate this year! Basically, you can choose where your tax dollars go in the State of Missouri by taking advantage of the Domestic Violence Shelter tax credit.
This tax credit directly reduces the amount of an eligible donor’s income tax by 70% of the amount donated to Newhouse while still making a charitable donation deduction for the full amount (see attachment). In effect, when you file your tax return, the government will have paid you back 75-85% of your donation (sometimes more). This tax credit is only offered to Missouri Domestic Violence shelters which is why it is lesser known.
