Women Swimmin' for Hospicare is a community event that raises money for Hospicare & Palliative Care Services.

This year I am swimming in memory of my Aunt Joanie.

Aunt Joan was my Godmother and surrogate Grandmother to my kids. My Mom passed away 6 weeks after my twins were born and Aunt Joanie was there for us. She became our Grammy Joan. She always sent holiday cards to the kids (Easter, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day) and really cool gifts (crazy socks and manicures). Visits with Aunt Joanie meant we got to enjoy her fabolous cooking and go on many adventures (like visiting an elephant rescue!).

I am grateful for the hospice that supported Aunt Joanie. She died with dignity and on her own terms.

I miss her dearly. It is a true blessing to love and be loved. Rest in peace Aunt Joanie.

Help me help Hospicare raise funds that help to:

- Provide vital medications to ease pain and manage symptoms

- Provide specialized medical equipment so patients can stay in their own homes

- Train more volunteers to deliver complementary therapies to enhance comfort and peace

- Offer grief counseling sessions

- Continue to provide intensive round-the-clock care at the Hospicare residence for patients who need more care than they can receive in their own homes.

If you can, please join me in supporting their work by making a donation on my fundraising page - you’ll find a link below. I hope you'll consider making a gift.

Wishing you good health and happiness,

Mary McKellar
