The Down Syndrome Association of South Texas (DSASTX) is thrilled to announce that the 25th Annual Walk and Stroll of South Texas will be held on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at River City Community Church. Our Walk began as an opportunity to promote awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for people with Down syndrome. Twenty-five years later, we are still spreading the word and making a significant impact in our community.
This one-mile walk is a family event and will include onsite activities such as music, face painting, inflatables, a train, petting zoo, exhibitor booths, and food trucks!
Not only is this event a fun-filled day for our individuals, families, friends, and the community, it’s our biggest fundraiser of the year. The DSASTX is proud to serve over 1,400 children and adults with Down syndrome by providing support through ongoing programming, resources, and events for our families.
Join the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas as we unite for a common cause and raise funds at the DSASTX Walk & Stroll. Whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, take the first step and donate and/or register today! Help us spread the word; all are welcome to participate in our day of celebration!

For over 30 years, the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas (DSASTX) has been determined to empower and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families in South Texas. Our Walk & Stroll is our largest fundraising event and is responsible for raising 40% of the funds needed to operate each year. Every contribution you make will positively impact the DSASTX and individuals with Down syndrome. One hundred percent of the money raised stays here within our community, and is used to provide ongoing programs, family education sessions, and special events for individuals with Down syndrome and their families at little or no cost. With your support we will undeniably make a vast difference in the lives of individuals with Down syndrome across South Texas!
"It is so important to invest in the DSASTX community because it connects families that need one another. The DS community is one like no other. It’s as essential as having family in your life. It’s the difference between struggling alone or succeeding as a community..."
-Becky Powers (DSASTX Mom, to 6-year-old Martha)
"The DSASTX means a lot to my family. We have been a part of the DSASTX since the beginning and watched it grow into the amazing association it is today. Because of the DSASTX my son and I have found a supportive community..."
-Bill Cade (DSASTX Dad, to 30-year-old Billy)
"The DSASTX has many programs that helps parents like me to become better advocates for our children. It has been my greatest RESOURCE when dealing with all the unknowns of being a parent of a child with different needs...."
-Lizzeth Saldana (DSASTX Mom, to 8-year-old Dante)
"The DSASTX helped us get to know other families who are going through the same concerns with their child, and it helped us find new ways to help our little one. I could go on about how much the DSASTX does for us, but the biggest thing is that my son will always know that he is not alone in this world."
-Elizabeth Flores (DSASTX Mom, to 3-year-old Julian Lopez)
