2026 Legacy NAFC Royal Court supporting New Albany Floyd County Education Foundation

A message from Lindsey Fleming (FC '04):
I grew up in a nursing home. My mom was a social worker there, and I was calling bingo and helping in the dining room before I was even old enough for kindergarten. So somewhere along the way, taking care of people just became who I am. In high school at Floyd Central, I was the water girl for the boys' basketball team, and if you ask me why, I'd tell you the same thing I still believe now: I just like taking care of people.
That thread runs through everything since. I've spent my whole career in long-term care and hospice, and today I'm co-owner and Senior Vice President at Elder Advisers, helping families figure out how to take care of their parents when the time comes. My mom actually works for me now too, which feels like a pretty full-circle moment.
Here's something I think about a lot. The vast majority of my staff never went to school beyond high school, and every single one of them is excellent at what they do. High school gave them a firm foundation, plain and simple. I went on to more schooling after Floyd Central, sure, but that was a choice I got to make because the foundation was already there. That's what our schools give kids here: a firm foundation and a strong start, whatever they decide to build on top of it.
My family moved specifically so I could go through these schools. My dad's a Floyd Central grad, and now I'm doing the same thing for my own girls. Ronnie and Rylee have been part of Imagination Library almost since they were born, we actually got rejected the first time we applied because we sent it in before they arrived, and they wanted a birth certificate. We fixed that fast. I've also served on the board at LifeSpring, so the mental health side of this work matters to me too, and today I'm Vice President of the Board at Hope Southern Indiana as well, giving back to this community however I can.
I don't think I'd be where I am if I hadn't gone through these schools myself. That's why I'm asking you to give to the Education Foundation. Whatever you can offer between now and December 11th goes toward building the foundation for future students.
