The Adventuress Cup - A Race for the Salish Sea supporting Sound Experience

On Saturday, April 25, 2026 sailboats, motorboats, and a growing community of supporters will come together in Puget Sound to support the mission of the nonprofit Sound Experience. Now in its 6th year, The Adventuress Cup: A Race for the Salish Sea is a public, values-driven event that engages individuals passionate about our marine environment and the future we’re leaving for the next generation.
Join us by:
Sound Experience is a Washington-based nonprofit education organization that delivers powerful shipboard programs that shape young people’s perspectives about the marine environment. For more than 35 years over 30,000 Puget Sound area children and teens have climbed aboard the 133-foot Adventuress for day and overnight programs. We teach environmental stewardship and current issues affecting Puget Sound and the Salish Sea while introducing young people to potential marine-science and maritime-related career paths.
Adventuress, which was built in 1913, carries the highest designation of historic significance as a National Historic Landmark (NHL) and is one of only two NHL sailing ships still in active operation on the West Coast.
Programs aboard Adventuress do more than teach sailing—they open the door to confidence, leadership, and environmental stewardship for young people throughout the Salish Sea. The Adventuress Cup directly fuels this mission, expanding access for underserved youth, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ students, and those facing financial or geographic barriers to the waterfront. By taking part, you are helping ensure these life-changing, hands-on education experiences remain accessible to the next generation. There are two powerful ways to get involved:
The Adventuress Cup is a peer-to-peer fundraising event—simple, personal, and impactful. Create your virtual boat, set a fundraising goal, and invite your community to support you. Every donation moves us closer to getting more young people aboard Adventuress to learn, lead, and connect with the Salish Sea.
This is not a symbolic sail—it’s a real, around-the-buoys sail race. Racers take to the water in a true on-the-course competition while making a meaningful commitment to youth education. In-person sail racers and powerboats are asked to make a minimum $1,500 good-faith, tax-deductible pledge, turning skill, teamwork, and wind into direct support for Sound Experience. Thanks to our generous sponsors, 100% of funds raised help maintain Adventuress, the National Historic Landmark vessel that makes these transformative programs possible.
