I was lucky and had my cancer found early during an unrelated surgery. Most people with ovaries are not that lucky and it's found much later
Welcome to my 2024 Together in TEAL® Page!
I was diagnosed with Stage 1C ovarian cancer on 4/19/21 after receiving a total hysterectomy for an unrelated issue. I had been told by my surgeons, multiple times, "it doesn't look like cancer" and "when its cancer, your CA125 (ovarian cancer antigen) would be much higher." My whole life, one of my biggest fears was being diagnosed with cancer. I was TERRIFIED. Thankfully I was able to get into treatment within about a month of my diagnosis. This is NOT the case for most cancer patients who may have to wait months before even getting an appointment. I got involved with the NOCC towards the end of my treatment and they have been such a support and really helped me during this horrific time. They have financial assistance, free food delivereis, and free menta health treatment. None of those services would be possible without donations from the amazing supporters and donors towrds Ovarian cancer supports for patients.
There is no reliable screening for Ovarian cancer and the symptoms are so common with many other conditions that it is incredibly difficult to diagnose and treat within a reasonable timeframe. Any person with ovaries is at risk of developing this disease. Any person with ovaries deserves access to life saving care. Everyone with ovaries deserves access to support and care before, during, and after diagnosis and treatment.
I am excited to share that I have registered for National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s 2024 Together in TEAL® event because I am dedicated to raising awareness and funds in support of the ovarian cancer community. My efforts will help improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities who have been impacted by ovarian cancer - but this work cannot be done alone. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising goals.
Funds raised for the NOCC support national programs and local community initiatives to heighten awareness of the subtle signs, symptoms, and risks of ovarian cancer, provide quality-of-life and educational resources to survivors and caregivers throughout their journey, and advocate for the advancement of life-saving ovarian cancer research.
Together we can strengthen the TEAL community and use our passion and voices to fight this relentless disease that has claimed too many lives.
Join me by donating today, and bring us one step closer to a future where no one ever loses their life to ovarian cancer.
