About Award USA Challenge 100

In honor of the 100th year of our Founder, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, we are proud to celebrate his life and legacy. To honor him and all he’s done for young people, the Award is launching Challenge100.

There are infinite possibilities...whether you’re planting 100 trees, baking 100 cakes, or walking for 100km, it’s your challenge, your way. Use the Award’s sections to inspire you. Just make it 100 and help to ensure The Duke’s legacy can continue for years to come.

Infinite Possibilites

The Award USA program consists of four areas:

  • Service: Volunteer your time to understand the benefits of service to your community

  • Skills: Develop personal interests and practical and social skills

  • Physical Recreation: Improve health, wellbeing and fitness

  • Adventurous Journey: Undertake a journey or expedition

Just as each Award USA participant journey is unique, the Challenge 100 provides endless options to select any or all of the Award sections to create your own path. And, inspire others along the way!

Award USA: Built for This Moment

The Award is BUILT FOR NOW.
Today’s young people are facing extraordinary challenges and change. Award USA remains steadfast, working to ensure that despite COVID-19 and the new normal beyond, young people ages 14-24 continue to develop resilience, confidence, and internal motivation that will drive them forward within the classroom and beyond.

Infinite Potential
Award USA believes in the infinite potential of all young people, and is committed to ensuring the Award is accessible to individuals of all backgrounds. Every year, more than a million young people participate in the Award worldwide, supported by around 200,000 volunteers. Our mission is to make Award USA available to any young person ages 14-24 who would like to participate. See our Impact Report to learn more.

Start an Award or Award Center
Do you know a young person age 14-24? Or are you interested in leading a group of young people in the Award?

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a flexible, simple framework that challenges young people to give back, get active, learn new or improve existing skills, and experience adventure in new settings. Award levels of Bronze, Silver or Gold are resume-level achievements and fun at the same time, building lifelong leadership abilities, improving wellness and strengthening resilience.
