HOW IT WORKS

Bowl for kids' sake is our peer-to-peer fundraiser to support youth mentoring programs in McHenry County.

Register to create a profile and start sharing with your friends, family, and colleagues to help raise funds for BBBS. A "little" goes a long way, and asking your connections to donate even $5 or $10 makes a BIG impact on the lives of kids in our community!

You can register as an individual, create a team, or join an existing team to reach your goal! BBBS asks that everyone who registers set a minimum goal of $75 to support our mentoring programs. You can raise more than $75, which we strongly encourage! You can also donate a partial or total amount to your $75 goal yourself when you register. If you are registering with a family, the fundraising goal is $175 for a family of 4 ($25 per additional child).

Having trouble registering? Check out our FAQ tab in the About Menu to learn more, or contact Johanna donahue at johanna.donahue@bbbsmchenry.org.

Become a DEFENDER of Potential!

By participating in Bowl for Kids' Sake 2024, YOU help inspire, ignite, and defend the potential of youth in McHenry County. The Littles in our program come from various backgrounds, but ALL are in need of a positive, adult mentor who will help them discover the best possible version of themselves. Kids who have a mentor are:

  • More likely to think about their future and college
  • More likely to have an increase in self-confidence
  • More likely to do better in school & exhibit better classroom behavior
  • Less likely to use illegal drugs or drink underage
Mentors make an immense impact on the life of a child. At BBBS, we recruit, screen, and match volunteers with a child and continue to monitor, coach, and support the relationship over the coming months and years. In McHenry County, we currently serve 500 children across 3 programs: Community Based Mentoring, Lunch Time Mentoring, and After School Mentoring.

Your support helps in various ways:
  • Professional staff monitoring matches to ensure safety guidelines are followed
  • Match Activities for Bigs and Littles to do together at no cost
  • Recruitment of Volunteer Bigs to match with waiting Littles
  • Background checks and fingerprinting for potential volunteers
  • Safety trainings for staff, Bigs, and parent/guardians
  • And more!
