Why Participate?

Do you know many people are affected by Liver Disease? In the United States, more than 4.5 million people are currently living with diagnosed Liver disease, and there are approximately 100 million living with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.  It’s sad to say, but over 44,000 people in the U.S. die from Liver Disease each year.

Our mission is to promote disease awareness, prevention, education, advocacy, and research. Supported by a network of patients, caregivers, health care professionals and community leaders, the organization develops and runs educational workshops, provides expertise and leadership for statewide viral hepatitis elimination plans, conducts screenings, coordinates support groups, facilitates linkage to necessary medical care, provides education for policy makers on issues related to liver health and works with community leaders, health care professionals, interested groups and patients to raise awareness about liver disease.

With the support of people like you, we will continue to build our capacity to address autoimmune liver diseases, the elimination of viral hepatitis and the other rising liver-related epidemics; Fatty Liver/NASH and Hepatocellular Carcinoma.  We work closely with transplant centers to support providers and patients and to promote living donor transplantation and organ donation.  We also emphasize liver health through our Kick Liver Disease Campaign to promote disease prevention which includes routine screenings, wise lifestyle choices and education within adult and youth forums.

We provide a $25,000 grant through our annual Research Funding Program. Our hope, through This investment aligns with our dedication to our mission and allows us to continue to inspire new therapies, treatments, and cures for liver diseases. We also administer a Patient Assistance Program in which we provide stipends of money to assist with certain patients with some expenses during treatment and transplantation on a case by case basis.

Additionally, our organization is involved in advancing policy related to health care issues at both the state and federal level. We regularly provide expertise and amplify the patient and provider voice to help advocates communicate to legislators about important health care issues such as nonmedical switching, out of pocket costs for prescription drugs, co-pay accumulator issues, as well as other barriers to health care access, and seek state-level and federal policy remedies.

We are YOUR community partners, and we are dedicated to working together with you to support the liver community.  We live our mission and are committed to providing excellent outcomes for all our endeavors.  We achieve this through our solid relationships with our strategic partners, volunteer leaders and by selecting highly experienced and dedicated staff members as we grow to meet the needs of the liver communities across the nation.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Funds raised through Walk will enable the Community Liver Alliance, to offer valuable education programs, promote liver wellness in the community, provide support and information for newly diagnosed patients and families, advocate for the needs of those affected by liver disease, and to fund research that will result in better treatments and cures.
