Turkey and Thirty

Is Connecticut Foodshare doing community drives to collect turkeys this year?

Yes! We are welcoming donors at several drives across Connecticut this year. We know that many people may not be able to visit a drive, and we continue to purchase more food than we ever have in the past, due to the challenges of the pandemic. Financial donations online are a great way for community members to support the purchase of a turkey (or more!) for a neighbor in need. Your monetary gift will help Connecticut Foodshare achieve our goal; to provide thousands of families with the food they need on Thanksgiving and beyond.

Can I still drop off a turkey at Connecticut Foodshare

Will Connecticut Foodshare pick up turkeys from my food drive?

We appreciate everyone’s help in providing Thanksgiving meals for neighbors in need. We are not able to pick up turkeys from the many drives held across the state. Turkeys can be delivered to a Connecticut Foodshare warehouse in Bloomfield, Bridgeport, or Wallingford during the drop-off hours listed in the question above. We are only able to accept fully frozen turkeys.

Is Connecticut Foodshare accepting cash or credit card donations?

Yes! A donation box will be available for financial donations during turkey collection hours at Connecticut Foodshare warehouses in Bloomfield, Bridgeport, and Wallingford, along with the DipJar for credit card donations. We also offer fast and secure online donations that will help us provide Thanksgiving meals and help for neighbors throughout the year. Donate online at www.ctfoodshare.org/turkey

What do I do if I'm in need of a turkey?

Connecticut Foodshare distributes turkeys to our existing network of partner food pantries and meal programs that in turn serve individuals in need. If you are in need of a turkey and other food assistance, check out this resource guide or visit www.211ct.org to find a local pantry near you. Organizations seeking turkeys from Connecticut Foodshare must be a current Connecticut Foodshare partner food pantry or meal program.

Is Connecticut Foodshare having its annual Turkey Tuesday event?

Yes! This year’s Turkey Tuesday is scheduled for November 16 at City Place in Hartford from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
