2023 Walk Against Hunger

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a registration fee on the day of the Walk Against Hunger?

The Walk Against Hunger is a free and family friendly event – but we do encourage walkers to raise at least $40 from their friends and colleagues. That is equivalent to 80 meals for your neighbors in need!

How do I get started?

First you MUST register online (again, its FREE!), so we know you want to be involved! Then you can get started raising funds immediately!

Do I have to be a part of a team?

No! You have the option to register as an individual walker, as a member of a team, or as a Team Captain, who leads the team.

How do I communicate to my team?

You must be the Team Captain to communicate with your team members through email. Once you are logged in to your account, go to Manage My Page: Manage Your Team: Email Your Teammates. This will allow you to select which teammates you wish to reach out to.

How does Connecticut Foodshare use the funds raised for the Walk?

When you register, you are able to choose which partner program will benefit from your fundraising – or you can choose Connecticut Foodshare. 100% of funds raised for participating partner programs are allocated to those programs to support their important work with our neighbors in need. All funds raised for Connecticut Foodshare means our work can continue uninterrupted, and we can increase access to healthy food through innovative work that creates long-term solutions to hunger.

Is there an incentive for fundraising?

As mentioned above, the Connecticut Foodshare Walk Against Hunger is a free event with no registration fee or minimum donation. Participants are encouraged to raise funds for their chosen benefiting partner program.

  • First 1,000 attendees to arrive at Dunkin' Park will receive a free Drawstring Bag
  • Individuals that raise $100+ will receive a Connecticut Foodshare branded cross-body bag as a thank you for raising funds for this important cause

The free drawstring bag and those that earned a Connecticut Foodshare branded cross-body bag through their fundraising efforts, will receive these items on Walk Day on May 20th at Dunkin' Park on a first come, first served basis.

How do I get my donations to Connecticut Foodshare?

Your fundraising efforts are received directly by Connecticut Foodshare when you register and donate online using this fundraising website. If you raise money in your community, please send all cash and check donations to: Connecticut Foodshare c/o Walk Against Hunger at 2 Research Parkway, Wallingford, CT 06492.

If I collect donations in person, can I add those to my totals on my fundraising page?
No, those donations cannot be added to your fundraising page totals, BUT they will be credited to you/your team when you send them to Connecticut Foodshare, ATTN: Giving Team/Donors Services, 2 Research Parkway, Wallingford, CT 06492. Be sure to include your name, address, team name, and the hunger relief agency that will benefit from the gift/s. If you come to the Walk on May 20th, please be sure to collect your prize based on the total you have raised and not just your fundraising page totals.

How long is the Walk?

The Walk is 1.5 miles, starting and ending at Dunkin' Park. A map of the walk route is available at www.ctfoodshare.org/walk-route.

Can I bring my dog to the Walk?
