Honor Your Mentor

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the Foundation of the AAGL’s (FAAGL’s) Honor Your Mentor Campaign?
A: The FAAGL’s Honor Your Mentor Campaign is an opportunity to acknowledge the mentors in your life by nominating them as an Honored Mentor. You can nominate your mentor through a donation to the Foundation of the AAGL. You may also give to honor a non-physician mentor - a professor, parent, colleague, or anyone who has helped you become the person you are today. Top honored mentors will receive additional recognition on the Honored Mentors Microsite.

Q:  What are the dates for the FAAGL’s Honor Your Mentor Campaign?

A: For purposes of tallying results for the Honored Mentors, Top Honored Mentors, Top Fundraiser and Top FIVE Mentors, this campaign will end June 30, 2021.  These results will be used in promotional materials at AAGL’s 50
th Annual Global Congress in Austin, TX on November 14 – 17, 2021.

Q:  How can I nominate my mentor?
A:  By clicking on the “donate now” button on the Home page you will be taken to a “Donate to Honor Your Mentor” form.   Please follow the instructions on the form for nominating your mentor.
NOTE:  Nominees/Mentors will appear in the drop-down box after receiving five or more nominations.   If you do not see your mentor’s name under the drop-down box, you can add their name under the “Donate to a mentor not already listed.”

Q: Can I donate to nominate a mentor who has already been nominated?

A: Yes, we encourage this!  Additional donations to nominate a mentor who has already been nominated will help that mentor earn an Honored Mentor Page on the website and help them position to the top on the “Top Honored Mentors Leader Board”.

Q: What is the minimum donation to nominate a mentor?  Is there a maximum donation amount?

A:  The minimum donation to nominate a mentor is $50.00. There is no maximum donation.

Q:  Can I give to more than one mentor?

A:  Absolutely!   If you have more than one mentor, please recognize one or more with a donation.

Q:  What does it mean to be an Honored Mentor?
A: To be an Honored Mentor means you are making a difference!  The FAAGL wants to identify, acknowledge, and thank these “difference makers” through this campaign.

A:  The prestigious Steege Mentorship Award recognizes an outstanding AAGL member who has provided at least ten years of support and mentorship to future generations of minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons. Mentors who meet these qualifications may be nominated for this award. An FAAGL designated committee will review the nominations and select a winner. The winner chosen will receive recognition at the 2021 AAGL Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynecology.

The Top Five Honored Mentors, meeting the qualifications of the Steege Mentorship Award, will automatically be submitted as nominees for consideration of the 2021 Steege Mentorship Award.

Additional nominations, outside of the Honor Your Mentor Campaign, will also be accepted for the 2021 Steege Mentorship Award.
