Where does the hike take place?
We are not gathering in-person as a group like we have in years past. For 2021, you choose your own hiking location and hike only with those in your social bubble. Please follow COVID safety precautions set by the local county where you hike. Our sponsor AllTrails.com has provided this curated list of Bay Area trails suitable to most skill levels.
What is the Champion Challenge?
This year, you can choose to participate one of two ways: a single-day hike on the morning of June 5; or, go the extra mile and commit to the week-long Champion Challenge from May 29 through June 5. If you're a Champion Challenger, set a mileage goal for the week and chip away each day. Log your daily progress on your participant page. Watch a how-to video. Graham-Hitch Mortuary has generously offered to match, up to $10,000, the funds raised by the team or individual challenger who raises the most money from their friends and family.
I want to do the Champion Challenge, but some members of my team want the single-day hike. Does this matter?
It's fine to have a mixed team. However, as it relates to the competition toward the matching donation, only the team members who are competing in the week-long challenge can contribute to your team total. We will review each team member's status before determining the Top Fundraising Team or Individual.
How do I join a team if I have already registered?
Log in, then select "Manage My Page" from the pull-down menu under your name. Next, click "Individual Participant" on the left navigation menu. Click "Participate as Part of Team" and search for team name. Watch a how-to video.
Are there a minimum and maximum number of people who can form a team?
A team can form with two or more people. There is no maximum. This video explains how to join an existing team or create a new team.
How do I get my event T-shirt?
We are offering three pick-up events (May 22, 25, & 26) at our office. If you missed these events, please email our support team. We cannot ship T-shirts by mail. For people who live too far to attend our pick-up events, you can download a printable marathon-style shirt bib in our promotional kit.
How do I attend the Jamboree After-Party?
You need to register separately here. The Zoom system will send you a confirmation email with a link to join. Save that information, as you'll need it to log on to the party on June 5, 4 to 6 p.m.
How do I order dinner for the Jamboree?
We’ve partnered with Frankie, Johnnie, and Luigi Too Italian restaurant in Dublin for this event. The restaurant will donate a portion of the proceeds from your order to Hope Hospice. If you’d like to participate, order dinner to-go in advance for pick up on June 5, and we’ll dine together at the Jamboree. For online orders, be sure to put "Hike for Hope group" in the comments section to make your order count. If you order by phone, (925) 828-9380, tell the staff you are with the Hike for Hope group.
We recommend that you schedule your order for pickup by 3 p.m. to allow time to get home and tune in to the Jamboree's 4 p.m. start time. We'll reheat our food when it's time for the music to begin. See you there!
Can I invite friends to participate if they don't live locally?
Absolutely! That's the beauty of a virtual event. Your friends and loved ones from out of town can hike in memory or support of a special person from wherever they live. They can register as an individual or join a team that you've created. Learn how. You may want to make arrangements to pick up the event T-shirt(s) for your friend and ship them to his/her home, as Hope is not able to offer this service. Alternatively, we have provided a printable marathon-style shirt bib in our promotional kit.
How can someone who doesn't have Internet access participate in the Hike for Hope?
Upon request, we can mail a hardcopy registration form, or take your information and payment by phone. However, a computer with Internet access is required to participate in the Jamboree After-Party.
Can I make a donation to support the event without actually participating in the hike?
