I have decided to make a difference in the fight against Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.  This will be a big undertaking, but it will all be worth it because your donations will not only motivate me, but they will help us get closer to the cure.  Won’t you please consider a donation today?

MY PERSONAL STORY: My symptoms started when I was just 7 years old. After many doctor visits, my mom was told I had stomach ulcers. We followed the doctors’ orders… Zantac 75 every day before lunch. A year later I was tired of taking my medication and still being in so much pain. All the while I was teased for being the ‘sick kid’ since I had to get my pills from the teacher every day. 8-year-old logic kicked in and I started saying I was feeling better. This stopped the bullying – Plus, the medication did not help me anyway. I spent the next 13 years ignoring the pain as much as I could and normalizing my situation.

My symptoms grew much worse in April of 2010. I started the process of doctor visits, tests, and various pain meds all over again. Specialist visits, upper and lower GI scopes, and 9 months thinking that I was dying of some form of rare undetectable cancer, I was finally diagnosed.

My Crohn’s diagnosis on December 14th, 2010 was a relief. I finally had an answer! Though it’s certainly not been easy, I’ve been kicking its guts for the last 10 years – As of 2020, I was officially in remission... However my symptoms have started up again towards the end of 2022. There was a 50% chance my symptoms would return so I knew I wasn't out of the woods but it doesn't make it anymore disappointing. All the more reason to keep fundraising for this wonderful organization!

Remember, over 80 cents of every dollar donated goes towards our mission of finding a cure… And every single dollar counts!

Thank you SO much for your support and donations!

Lots of Love,
Sara Herring

Hours after resection surgery in 2017.

I had nearly 9" of my intestines removed along with a softball size mass whom I named 'Flarald.' After Flarald was evicted, my journey to remission was very quick.
