Why are we hosting this event?! We've all heard the saying about walking a mile in someone else's shoes before judging them. Before we judge someone else, we need to understand everyone has a personal journey that is often traveled alone.

Even if we walk a mile in someone else's shoes, you will never really know their true story, journey, or what it's like to be them. We must try to understand, accept, and foster a relationship with each other. Love them for being them, their true authentic selves. By doing this, you are showing another that they never have to walk alone. That there is support and love along their journey and often times in their darkest hours.

Let's walk together in solidarity to raise awareness, critical funds, and shed light on the stigma surrounding mental illness. Gather your family, friends, coworkers, and fur-babies and help reach our fundraising goal of $60,000+, and show everyone they will Never Walk Alone.

WHY IT MATTERS

PrairieCare fund's mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities. this is accomplished through supporting Minnesota schools and non-profits by granting funds to identify, advocate, educate, and equip youth with mental health resources.
  • Half of all lifetime cases of mental disorders begin by age 14, and about 1 in 4 adolescents experience mental disorders that result in severe impairment.
  • Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among 10 to 14 year olds and the 3rd leading cause of death in 15 to 19 year olds in the United States.
Your participation and support of this event will make a profound impact and help us raise critical funds to Minnesota schools and non-profits for their mental health initiatives. By coming together for this walk/run, we will kick  stigma to the curb and show everyone with mental illness that they will never walk alone.

TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE AN IMPACT

In 2022, mental illness continued to rise and with it an ever-growing need for tools and resources such as:

  • Calm rooms
  • Staff wellness
  • Social & emotional learning curriculum
  • Peer-to-peer mentor training for students
  • Trauma training & services
  • Classroom tools such as heart math sensors
  • In 2022, we received over $500,000 in grant requests. With your generous donations we were able to award $355,000! While this is a tremendous impact, we are still falling short of the need.
Since 2016, PrairieCare Fund has received over $4.5 Million in grant requests and have only been able to award $1.3 Million, leaving a $3.2 Million gap in funding. Our communities need your help! Your support allows us to continue making an impact and assist in meeting an ever-growing need!

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS AND IN-KIND CONTRIBUTORS!
