What is the READ FEED RUN Turkey Trot?

Now in its fifteenth year, our goal is the same as always – to support the Literacy Volunteers of Morris County as they teach residents to READ, help the Interfaith Food Pantry Network as they FEED residents in need, and keep each one of us fit with our annual holiday RUNOur race is on Thanksgiving Day, rain, or shine.

 

How can I register to run?

Can I register on Race Day?

Registration will also be open on race day starting at 7:00 am.   Please pay by cash or check.  

 

What does it cost? 

Turkey Trotter - $35 

Virtual Turkey Trotter - $35 (online only)

Turkey Trotter with USATF NJ Member Discount - $32 (online only)

1 Mile Fun Run - $30​

Kids Trot - $10

 

Is the race USTAF Certified? 

Yes, our course is certified, and members can get a discount! 

 

What is the route? 

The race takes place at Ginty Field in Morris Township.   For GPS Coordinates, use 50 Woodland Avenue, Morris Township 07960

Registration will be on Ginty Field, starting at 7:00.    

5K Start –  Fanok Road.  At 8:15, runners will be called start by pace 

5K Finish – Dwyer Lane by the Fire Department 

1M Start/Finish – Corner of Dwyer Lane and Fanok Road 

Kids Trot – on Ginty Lawn - (line up at 9:05) 

 

Medical – Police parking lot (event site) & Loantaka parking lot on Woodland (5k course)  

Info –  Red Tent near “Smokehouse” on Ginty Field  

Volunteers Sign In – Gazebo on Ginty Field 

Refreshments – near “Smokehouse” and DJ  

Potties – near “Smokehouse” on way to 5K/1M start 

Awards – at DJ van 

 

Where can I park? 

 Parking is available at Woodland Avenue School, Ginty Pool, The Township Administration Building.   Please get there early, as our race attracts a big crowd! 
 

What if I can’t run a whole 5K? 

 We have an option of a One Mile Course that you can walk or run.  To prepare for the race, you can also sign up for a Free 5K Preparation Course provided by Atlantic Sports Health.  To register link will be coming soon!


Can I bring the family? 

 Yes, this is a fun event for the whole family.   Kids under 10 can participate in our special Kids’ Trot on Ginty Field at 9:15 am.   Kids can also run/walk the one mile or 5K course.   Please note that no strollers/baby joggers are allowed on the 5K course, and no pets on either the 5K or one mile course. 


What is the schedule for the day? 

Schedule: 

8:15 a.m. – Call to 5K Start by Pace 

8:30 a.m. – 5K Start 

8:30 a.m. – Call to 1M Start 

8:45 a.m. – 1M Start 

9:05 a.m. – Call to Kids Trot 

9:15 a.m. – Kids Trots begin 

9:30 a.m. – 5K Awards 

 

What about COVID? 

With the ever-changing environment, we will be posting our official covid safety protocol in early November and will adjust as may be necessary as we approach event day. Please know that your safety is our top priority, and our management team has produced numerous safe and fun in-person events since Fall 2020. We will be complying with all current CDC, National, State, and Local regulations as they exist at the time of the Turkey Trot. Can I participate virtually? 

 Yes!   You can register for the Trot and pick up your tee shirt in advance or have it mailed to you.  You will be able to run/walk 5k using any route you choose!

 

Are there awards? 

Top 3 men, women, and non-binary overall 

Top 3 m/f/n in age categories: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, (5-year group through…), 85+ 

Awards by “gun time” not “chip time”; explanation posted on “smokehouse” with results 

*Ribbons to 1 Milers 

 

What amenities are provided?    

 Our popular tees are guaranteed to the first 2,000 registrations.   We will have water and snacks available post-race.    There will also be port-a-loos available on Ginty Field.   A pre-race warm out will be provided by our official Health Care Sponsor:  Atlantic Sports Health.
