Marklund Run, Walk & Roll Fundraising Tips

Thank you for participating in the Marklund Run, Walk & Roll! We are excited to have you on board. Fundraising is a meaningful way to support Marklund and the individuals we serve, and we are here to help you get started.

Below you will find simple tools and tips to help you reach your fundraising goal!

Your Fundraising Page

Your personal fundraising page is the easiest way for friends and family to support you. Be sure to personalize your page with a clear goal, message and fun photos to share with your potential donors!

Getting Started

"Nothing annoys people so much as not receiving invitations."
‐ Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest

The most successful fundraisers usually start with people they know best. Begin by reaching out to:

  • Family members
  • Friends
  • Coworkers
  • Neighbors

Visit the "Invite Friends to Join You" tab,  and One Cause will help you compose messages via email and social media.

Share Your Story

People give when they feel connected to your reason for participating. Consider sharing:

  • Why you chose to take part in the event
  • Any personal connection to Marklund’s mission
  • What this event means to you

Keep it simple and authentic.

Social Media Tips

Social media is a great tool to spread the word. We recommend posting several times leading up to the event.

Try sharing:

  • A post when you first sign up
  • A mid-way update on your progress
  • A final push before race day

Adding your page link with photos, updates and anything Marklund can help increase engagement.

Easy Ways to Ask for Support

Do not overthink your message. Simple and personal outreach works best. Here are a few examples you can use:

  • “I am participating in the Marklund Run, Walk & Roll. Would you consider supporting my fundraising page?”
  • “I am close to my goal for a cause that means a lot to me. Every donation helps.”
  • “If you are able to support my run/walk, here is my link. Thank you for considering it.”

Text messages and direct messages often get the best response.

Say Thank You

Thank your donors as they contribute. A quick message or shoutout goes a long way in building support and encouraging additional donations.

Remember Your Impact

Every donation helps support individuals with profound disabilities!  Whether someone gives $10 or $100, every contribution makes a difference.

Thank you again for being part of this event and for supporting the mission of Marklund!
