What is the Macon Sleepout?
The Macon Sleepout is an overnight event where participants spend a night outside to show solidarity with people experiencing homelessness and to raise funds for Depaul USA DayBreak/Sheridan Center. It’s a meaningful way to support our homeless neighbors and raise awareness about the challenges they face.
When and where is the Sleepout?
The Sleepout will take place on Feb 26, 2026 at Daybreak (174 Walnut St.). Check-in begins at 5:30pm, and the program will conclude at 9:00am the following morning.
How do I register?
You can register online by clicking the Register as a Sleeper/Remote Sleeper. Registration helps us plan for food, safety, and supplies.
Can I participate if I can’t sleep outside?
Absolutely! You can still take part as a “Remote or Satellite Sleeper” from your home or another location. You can host your own mini-sleepout while raising funds and awareness.
How to Host a Remote Sleepout
To host a Remote Sleepout, click “Host a Remote Sleepout” and enter your event details, including the date, time, and name, then click Save. Please note that your event page will not be automatically published, so it will not appear in the public search. However, people can still access it if you share the direct link, which you’ll find at the bottom right of your event page. If you would like your Remote Sleepout to appear on our main event page, simply click Publish.
Is there a fundraising requirement?
No! However, participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 to support Depaul USA programs in Macon. Every dollar raised goes directly to services for people experiencing homelessness.
What should I bring?
Participants should bring your tent, warm clothing, a sleeping bag, a ground mat or blanket, and any personal items needed for an overnight stay. We recommend layers, hats, gloves, and weather-appropriate gear.
Is food provided?
A light dinner and breakfast will be provided.
What safety measures are in place?
Our team ensures a safe environment with staff present overnight. Emergency contacts and first aid will be available, and we encourage participants to sleep in groups if possible.
How do donations make a difference?
Every dollar raised helps provide meals, shelter, case management, and life-changing support for Macon’s homeless community. Donations make it possible to meet immediate needs and work toward long-term stability.
Can I volunteer without sleeping out?
Yes! Volunteers are always needed to help with setup, registration, and program support. Email Daybreak@depaulusa.org to learn more.
