Dakin Day takes place annually on August 1 and commemorates Dakin’s history and more than 50 years of helping keep pets and people where they belong - together.
In 2019, the office of Mayor Domenic J. Sarno delivered a proclamation at Dakin’s Springfield Animal Resource Center to declare it Dakin Day in Springfield. The proclamation lauded Dakin for our work in promoting the bonds between pets and their people, noting, “The impact of their work can be felt in the City of Springfield, throughout the Pioneer Valley, and beyond.”
Every year, we celebrate the strong bond between people and pets.
Dakin Day is about more than an anniversary. It's a celebration of the community that makes our work possible.
By joining our Spirit Week, you'll help raise awareness and money to support continued adoption services, accessible veterinary care, pet support programs, and other resources that strengthen the human-animal bond throughout our region.
