What is Step Forward to Prevent Suicide?
As our communities and state continue to experience the loss of our family and friends to suicide, the Step Forward to Prevent Suicide event promotes hope and healing and raises awareness and support for the Helpline Center's suicide prevention and survivor support programs. Participants have the opportunity to hear from an honorary speaker, listen while loved ones names are read aloud during the remembrance ceremony, and participate in a 1.5 mile walk. We encourage people to put together a team or register as an individual as we continue to step forward to prevent suicide and support those bereaved by loss.
Is there a way to provide the name of my loved one's name to be read at the Remembrance Ceremony?
Yes, you can click here and complete the form with your loved one's name and pronunciation. Deadline to provide your loved ones name is by 9:00 pm on Friday June 10, 2022
Where do the funds go?
By stepping forward, your donations will help support the Helpline Center's suicide prevention trainings, crisis texting for high school students, and grief support services for survivors. 100% of the proceeds stay in South Dakota!
Is there a fee to register?
