Tips for Successful Online Fundraising

Because we are practicing social distancing, more and more people are turning to social media to communicate with each other.

Use social media to expand your engagement! Share stories about the special animals in your life and why raising funds for Foothills Animal Rescue mission is so important to you. Posting your fundraising goals 3x a week is recommended.

Make sure every post you make uses the Hashtag: #TeamUpforTails

Link your fundraising page with Facebook & Twitter as well as start a Facebook fundraiser! This is easy to do from our website and helps increase fundraising while sharing your story. If you need help linking your fundraising page through our website, email dylan.kirkpatrick@foothillsanimal.org.

Use photos and videos for online fundraising tools - images are a great way to attract interest. As well as link monetary value to donations so that people understand exactly where their contribution is going.

Follow our Facebook and Instagram pages and share our posts so people become familiar with what we do.

Ask your company if they have a matching gift program. A company will match a gift when an employee makes a donation. Matching gifts can make a huge impact in fundraising totals!

Involve your company and employer! Ask your co-workers who share your love of animals to join your virtual team and invite your boss to engage your company. This is a great activity to keep co-workers connected while working from home!

Make sure all your team members are aware of the fundraising goals and give progress updates to help keep them motivated.

Set a team goal or individual goal that is a stretch and help individual team members to set their own goals. Also start early and give people ample time to donate.

Be sure to send out thank you notes electronically or by mail to all your supporters. Simply giving them recognition on your social media is a great way to say thank you.

Here are 10 easy steps to get you started and raise a quick $500:

1. Show your commitment and contribute to yourself: $25
2. Ask your spouse, parents and other family members to match your donation: $75
3. Ask your co-workers to donate: $25 (five co-workers, $5 each)
4. Ask a vendor or supplier from your company: $50
5. Ask friends to sponsor you: $25 (five friends, $5 each)
6. Ask members of a club you belong to: $100 (10 members, $10 each)
7. Send out a letter to your holiday card mailing list: $100
8. Ask people at businesses that you frequent often: $40
9. Ask someone who has asked you for a donation: $10
10. Ask your boss for a company contribution: $50
