What is Veterans Build? 

Veterans Build is a two-day special build event to honor the men and women who have courageously served our country while raising funds and awareness for Honolulu Habitat for Humanity. Four teams of military, veteran and civilian volunteers will participate in a fundraising challenge and help build the home of a local US veteran. 

 

When is Veterans Build?  

There are 4 volunteer shifts available: 

 

8:00 am – 12:00 pm on Friday, November 20th  

12:30 pm – 4:30 pm on Friday, November 20th 

8:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 21st 

12:30 pm – 4:30 pm on Saturday, November 21st  

 

Where is Veterans Build? 

We will be building in Waimanalo, HI – exact address will be provided to participating teams. 

 

How do I sign up? 

Teams interested in participating in Veterans Build must complete an application by Friday, October 9. Teams will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis.

 

How many people can participate? 

Each team can have 7 on-site volunteers. More info on virtual participants below. 

 

Do I have to be a veteran to participate? 

No – we welcome volunteers from all walks of life to join us. Your team can consist of veteran, military or civilian volunteers.  

 

How do I fundraise? 

Each team and participant will have a personal online fundraising page to collect donations. You will receive a fundraising toolkit that contains resources and materials to help you reach your goal. Honolulu Habitat’s fundraising staff will be your guide along the way.  

 

Is there a fundraising minimum? 

We are asking every team to raise $1,000 to support Honolulu Habitat’s Veterans Build. There will be prizes awarded to the highest fundraising team and highest fundraising individual.  

 

What if I have more than 7 volunteers?  

We can only accommodate 7 volunteers on the build site at a time. Additional interested volunteers are welcome to register as a Virtual Builder and help your team reach the fundraising goal. Virtual Builders that raise $100 or more will receive an event t-shirt. 

 

What is a Virtual Builder? 

Everyone is welcome to join our team of Virtual Builders and help raise support for Honolulu Habitat! Virtual Builders will receive the same fundraising resources, personal page and event updates as other participants. Virtual Builders will not volunteer in-person on 11/13 or 11/14 but are invited to sign up to build with Habitat at any of our open build days.
