Fundraising Tips
GET YOUR COMMUNITY INVOLVED!
- Ask the places you frequent to donate on your behalf - such as your hair stylist, dry cleaner, gym, local coffee shop.
- Throw a bake sale, movie night, or dance party to raise awareness and garner donations.
- Campaign door to door in twos, (with an adult if you are part of a Pup Pack) if your neighborhood allows.
- Bring in snacks to the office. Your co-works can have some if they donate to your Walk efforts.
- Host a chili cook off, taco night, cupcake wars or guacamole sale. You can sell tickets for $5 each for a "vote" for the best item and raise funds for the Walk. Food is a great way to raise funds, especially with hungry co-workers.
- Have a garage sale, what better way to raise funds and do that long awaited cleaning.
BE STRATIGIC WITH EMAILS AND SOCIAL MEDIA!
- Share your passion for the animals. Use your online personalized page to send fundraising emails out to your friend, family and colleagues letting them know you are participating in the Walk for the Animals and ask for their financial support.
- Be direct and concise. We all tend to ramble when talking about issues close to our hearts.
- Don't be afraid to follow up with those that haven't read your email.
- If you have walked in previous years, reach out to your past donors.
- Brag about your pet(s) with pictures and stories
- Talk about why you think it's important to rescue pets, care for neglected animals.
- Share a personal experience about the Humane Society of Greater Miami.
- Host a Facebook fundraiser.
- Post on social media and link back to your fundraising page. Always tag the Humane Society of Greater Miami.
DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK
Remember that you can't raise money to help the animals if you don't ask for support. Be proud of what you're doing, and your supporters will be proud to help you.
Let your supporters decide how much they wish to give on behalf of the animals. Or you may try the below method many people have used to quickly raise funds:

Day 1 Get yourself started with a $25 donation $25
Day 2 Challenge three family members to match your $25 $100
