Email is a very personal approach to fundraising, and has the power to reach more of a targeted audience than social media. See our detailed campaign timeline for ideas on when to start making your target list, and when to start reaching out!

Depending on your audience, social media can be a great and very powerful way to fundraise. Whether using Facebook or Instagram, asking for support over these platforms is very easy (see our Fundraising Tips & Tricks page for more detailed information). Below, you'll find templates that we have created with compelling content from the field, as well as a link to photos optimized for each social channel. Use these as inspiration -- because we always encourage you to customize your message to personalize your appeal! Happy fundraising!

Template #1: Returning Strikers
It’s that time of year again! I’m participating in Well Aware’s annual Shower Strike to raise funds for clean water projects in East Africa. I’m committing to not showering until I’ve reached my goal of $___! So, if you see me on a regular basis, or care about the noses of people who do, please consider donating to my campaign {insert personal campaign page link, or link to FB fundraiser}.
Template #2: New Strikers
I’m participating in a fundraiser hosted by the Austin-based nonprofit, Well Aware, SHOWER STRIKE. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. People from all over the world, including myself, have committed to not taking a shower until we’ve reached our fundraising goals. So, if you see me on a regular basis, or care about the noses of people who do, please consider donating to my campaign {insert personal campaign page link, or link to FB fundraiser}!
Template #3: Women and Water
When a rural community does not have ready access to water nearby, the task usually falls to women and girls who walk up to 3.7 miles each day to collect water for their families. When Well Aware implements clean water systems, young girls can continue their education and women can participate in more community activities. {insert personal campaign page link, or link to FB fundraiser}.
Template #4: A $75 donation
A $75 donation will help 5 people gain access to clean water for decades to come. When a community gains access to clean water, everything changes. Schools and clinics can be built and maintained, graduation rates increase and disease rates drastically fall. Help this transformation today with a donation of any amount. {insert personal campaign page link, or link to FB fundraiser}.
Template #5: Fight Climate Change
1 in 3 people globally do not have access to a reliable and clean source of drinking water (World Health Organization), and with climate change contributing to changing weather patterns, droughts are a more consistent threat than ever before. I’m on #ShowerStrike to raise awareness of this issue and, you can help, too. A contribution of any amount to will help to fund a new water project, helping to ease the fear of drought. {insert personal campaign page link, or link to FB fundraiser}.
Template #6: General
I’m on #ShowerStrike this week to raise awareness of Well Aware’s clean water projects in East Africa. I will not be taking a shower until I reach my goal of $____, ultimately providing X people with reliable clean water for decades. Will you help me reach my goal? {insert personal campaign page link, or link to FB fundraiser}.
Template #7: Water System Failure
60% of water projects in Africa fail, but 100% of Well Aware’s projects are functional and continue to provide water to thousands of people. I’m on #ShowerStrike to raise funds and awareness for Well Aware’s projects, and help to bring clean water to more people. {insert personal campaign page link, or link to FB fundraiser}.
Template #8: Water Stress
By 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas (World Health Organization). Well Aware is already tackling this issue by providing life-changing water systems to rural East African communities whose access to water was either unreliable or not safe to drink.
