You are all set to get started on the Breakaway Cycling Adventure for Kids with Cancer. We are excited to have you participating! We’re here to support you through all of your badge-earning adventures! Adventure Details:

Badge collection has started! Claiming badges for challenges is based on the honour system. One challenge counts towards one badge, with only one badge earned per day. Get out, see how many of the 27 challenges you can do and have fun!

We have created a tool kit with social templates and information to help you along your way. There are prizes at different fundraising levels – each milestone can directly help a family dealing with childhood cancer.

Earn as many badges as you can and be sure to take lots of pictures when you are doing them. Don’t forget to share with the tags @childhoodcancercanada and #breakawaykidscancer!

Picking Challenges and Collecting Badges:

For information on the challenges:

1. Login to your Breakaway Fundraising page

2. Click 'Claim a Badge' on the navigation bar.

3. Scroll through to find the badge you want to claim or use the 'Search for a Badge' option.

4. Click 'Click Here To Accept the (BADGE NAME) Challenge'.

5. Click 'Upload Your Photo or Video'.

6. Upload a photo or video from your computer, phone, Instagram, or the Participant Took Kit

7. Add a Headline or Story if you want, or just click 'Save'.

8. Claimed badges will now appear on your fundraising page!

Breakaway Club on Strava

Breakaway has a club on Strava. Search for “Breakaway Cycling Adventure 2021” or use this link and request to join. If you use Strava already, awesome. If you are new to Strava, it is a great way to track your activities and free to sign up (http://www.strava.com). Use Strava to see your name on the Breakaway leaderboards!

TIPS FOR FUNDRAISING:

Tell donors what you're doing! - Donors want to know how YOU feel about a cause. Why did you get involved? Tell them! Passionate people get results!

Talk about impact! - Remind donors that their fundraising dollars go a long way in the fight against childhood cancer. 1 in 5 children will not survive childhood cancer, and this number increases beyond 5 years. Their dollars matter!

Inspire! - If you've done any of our events before you've probably met some of our amazing child and family ambassadors. Make your audience aware of the difference they're making in the lives of these inspiring ambassadors.

Email! - Sending emails is the most effective tool to achieve your fundraising success. If you can, use a personal story when creating an email. Tell people WHY you're involved. This creates an emotional and personal connection to the cause.

Social media! - Sharing on social media increases your chances at being seen and heard. Mobilize your online community with stories, motivational anecdotes, inspiration and always include a link to your donation page!

Say thank you! - Thank your donors and let them know your appreciate their support. And if you say thank you on social media and tag them you may inspire others to donate, and the engagement can increase the post's visibility through the social media channel's algorithm.

Matching donations! - There are many companies that offer matching donations. A great way to double-up your efforts!

Fundraising challenges and incentives! - Whether it's a personal challenge or a group challenge, make a goal and work hard to achieve and share your goal. Motivate and encourage your friends as well.
