Extracurricular activities are expensive and become an unattainable dream for children in need due to the already stretched budgets of their families. With funding being cut for youth sports and physical education being taken out of schools, as well as the expense to participate in organized sports, we are proud to support the giveSPORTS program because it is a bridge to help a child stay active and put them on the path to a higher GPA and a higher attendance rate.

Children who have the opportunity to play sports learn many life lessons such as teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, responsibility, ethics, time management, how to strive to win and how to cope with losing. All of these skills translate into the classroom and one day, into careers.

WHAT IS THE GIVESPORTS PROGRAM?

The giveSPORTS program believes that no child should be sidelined because of their financial status.

A Precious Child collects donated new and gently-used sports equipment and distributes these items to children in the most need. Through an application submission process, the giveSPORTS program also provides Opportunity Funds to cover expenses such as participation fees, uniforms and sports equipment.

  • 2/3 of children reported newfound confidence.
  • “Being a martial arts skilled person makes me concentrate on my education, on my health, it builds my self-confidence, self-esteem and self-defense. As they teach self-respect in their course, it plays a vital role in creating a respectful and disciplined community!”
