Join us at the 2nd Annual Housing to Protect Cape Cod Summit to hear about progress made over the past year and receive tools and resources to advocate for housing in your community.
ABOUT HOUSING TO PROTECT CAPE COD
Housing to Protect Cape Cod (HPCC) was formed in 2022 to turn the tide on the housing crisis. Our mission is to empower our friends, family and neighbors to speak up for housing in towns across the region. We provide workshops to teach people how to frame an argument and speak to a town board, and we help those who would like to seek election or appointment to a local office gain the skills they need to win a seat. We also organize housing advocates to take action in their town to support pro-housing policies.
HPCC was founded by Housing Assistance, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS®, the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Cape Cod and CapeBuilt. To-date, nearly 900 people across the Cape and Islands have signed on to the HPCC Coalition.
Summit attendees will hear from state, regional and town leaders about the progress made over the past year to address the housing crisis. Attendees will walk away with actionable tools and resources to advocate for housing in your community.
SHORT TERM RENTALS
We will review the results from a new study by the Concord Group on the impacts of short-term rentals on Cape Cod and policy solutions that are being piloted in other communities. You'll also hear from local towns who are addressing this issue through policy and legislation.
State Senator Julian Cyr will provide an update on the Governor's housing bond bill and efforts at the state level to address the housing crisis. You'll also hear from regional and local leaders who are making strides to create more housing in the region.
Rob Brennan, counsel with the law firm Smolak & Vaughn, will share why focusing on housing and climate-related issues together will bring a winning combination for future housing development to Cape Cod.
Ryan Castle, CEO Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS®, will discuss a recent poll-based consumer messaging survey conducted by CCIAOR to better understand our communities concerns and priorities as it relates to housing issues.
We'll unveil new toolkits to empower you to advocate for policy and zoning changes in your town that create more year-round housing.
Housing to Protect Cape Cod encourages local action by Cape Cod residents and businesses in support of year-round housing that is affordable for the people who make our communities work.
