What happens the day of the Walk?

We are glad you asked! 

Event Day Schedule

11am Gates open 

10:45 -2:00pm Shuttle buses run

11am Vendor Village, Rescue Groups, Silent Auction, Family Zone, Food area and Tito's Canine Cantina open

11:45 Adoption Parade

1:00 Take a mile long Walk along the Keystone Trail

Come back and finish the day on the meadow!

3pm Tito's Canine Cantina closes​

The Walk - a great way to finish the day!

·         Kicks off at 1:00 from the NHS Meadow at the Admission Gate

·         Listen for the announcement from the Mainstage.

·         The route is just a mile along the Keystone trail!  

·         For a shorter walk try the Dachshund Dash which begins at the north end of the meadow just outside       
        the fence—about a quarter mile of walking.

·         Once you’re back- follow the crowd and enjoy festivities on the meadow.


If I want a t shirt, how do I get one?​

When you raise just $35 you have qualified for a 2024 Walk & Dog Fest T Shirt.  Incentives will be earned for funds raised by each participant (not team totals).  The more money you raise, the better the incentive and the more lives9 you will save.

You will be able to fetch your Walk & Dog Fest t shirt and available prizes before the event on Thursday September 26th and Friday September 27th from 12 noon - 5 pm at the Shelter. 

There will also be a Donation and Prize Pick Up tent the morning of the Walk & Dog Fest.

As a local nonprofit, we rely on your support. We hope that you’ll collect donations from friends and family for the animals.

What is the difference between Teams and Groups?

 A Team, or Dog Pack, is a group of people working together throughout the Walk & Dog Fest. You can sign up as a Team Captain, recruit members and you all work toward your team goal of saving the lives of as many animals as you can. A Group is something you can join, in addition to your team. For example, you are Team  All the funds you raise will be credited to your personal and team pages.

 You can also form multiple company teams, allowing departments to compete against each other and request a ‘Company Name Group’ be made so you can track the company’s collective impact. If you need a company group made, contact Gordon at gkrentz@nehumanesociety.org.

What do I do if someone wants to donate cash or check? 

You can track those donations online in your profile. Make sure the checks are made out to: Nebraska Humane Society and mail to:

Or, you can bring the cash and checks to the Nebraska Humane Society at 8929 Fort Street, Omaha, NE 68134. Please make sure you have all the donations in an envelope with your name and contact information.

How do I enter a check or cash I have collected for the Walk?

​Go to your Walk Participant Center. You can do this by going to upper right-hand corner of this page and click on "Manage My Page"

  • Once there click on  "This is where you can send emails , thank your friends and enter checks and cash' in the menu on the left side.
  • Next, click on "enter cash/checks".
  • Click on “Enter a Cash or Check Donation”
  • Then select the method of payment
  • Click “Save”
  • This amount will populate into your fundraising total.
  • Then you can mail or bring the checks in person to the Nebraska Humane Society at 8929 Fort Street, Omaha, NE 68134.
  • The photo I am trying to upload is rotating sideways.  What can I do?

    The photo is too large.​ To make the photo smaller, first open it in Paint . You then click the button "resize" to scale your photo down.  Try 75% of the original horizontal and vertical size.  Save a new version of your photo and try to upload it again!  If 75% doesn't work, you can try and make is smaller again (it all depends on the original size of your photo).

    We are so glad you asked!  All donations raised will directed to our Critical Care.

    How do I gain admission the day of the Walk?

    There is no admission fee to come to the Walk & Dog Fest!

    Please wear your shirt the day of the event! 

    Where do I park the day of the Walk?

    Complimentary parking with Shuttle Bus service will be available from 10:45 am to 2:00 pm in the CubeSmart Self Storage parking lot located at 5646 N 90th Street. (This is about a block and a half from the Shelter.) Dogs are permitted on the bus. There is limited parking in the Nebraska Humane Society main lot. 

    ARE YOU HAVING A 5K AT THE WALK THIS YEAR?
    There will not be a 5K.
