Under the guidance of local and state officials and the Department of Health, we are excited to offer you in-person and virtual opportunities to participate in the 40th anniversary of the Rubin Run. This hybrid fundraising event will support programs and services at the JCC for individuals with disabilities.
On-site opportunities on Mother's Day, Sunday May 9th:
For the safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff, there is limited space for the in-person 5K's and Kids Fun Run participants. Registrations for these events will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please note: the 5K is self-timed.
There are so many great options available for individuals at any fitness level to participate in a way that best meets your personal fitness goals and abilities. Virtual runners can complete their distance goals anytime from Mother's Day, Sunday May 9th through Sunday, May 16th.
Whether you participate in-person or virtually, every mile you cover from May 9-16 will count towards your target goal. By raising money along the way you are helping our JCC to meet its collective goal of $150,000. Proceeds from this event will support our efforts to provide vital programs and services to children, teens and adults in our community with disabilities.
There will also be a variety of health and wellness opportunities to support your personal journey, exciting giveaways, and celebratory Mother’s Day activities for you and your family to enjoy.
Please explore our race website for more information about what to expect and how you can help us to make a difference. This incredible community-wide event is a centerpiece for our JCC and we are thrilled to commemorate its 40th anniversary with all of you!

On-Site Runners
On Mother's Day, Sunday May 9th join us at the JCC to run one of our two 5K races or our Kids Fun Run/Family Health Walk. As a reminder to 5K runners, the 5K races are SELF-TIMED. You will be expected to track your results using a run tracking app and submit them to your participant page. We recommend STRAVA, but any fitness app will do. Manually log your miles using OneCause (under "Complete Activities"), or by connecting your OneCause participant page to the Strava app prior to your race's start time to have them load automatically.
Kids Fun Run will be timed by JCC staff and are encouraged and welcome to wear super hero costumes at the event.
Virtual Runners
Starting Mother's Day, Sunday May 9 through Sunday, May 16, record a single run or walk activity on STRAVA (or whatever fitness app you choose) that is at least: 5km long if you're completing the 5K, 10km long if you're completing the 10K; or, 21.1km (13.1 miles) long if you're completing Half Marathon. For those runners participating in the 40 Mile Challenge, you may complete your miles however you’d like—all in one day or over separate days during the week—as long you meet the 40 Mile Distance goal. Manually log your miles using OneCause (under "Complete Activities") or by connecting your OneCause account to the Strava app to have them load automatically.
Whether your participating in-person or virtually, it is up to you to keep track your times and distances of your run or walk. Kids Fun Run participants are not expected to time themselves. The JCC will be awarding top finishers in each race based on the results submitted by May 16, 2021 at 11:59pm.
Click here for tutorials on how download STRAVA and connect to your participant page.
You did it! Post a photo with the hashtag #RubinRun2021 on social media letting everyone know you finished the race and achieved your goal. Don’t forget to give a shout out to your supporters who’ve been rooting for you the whole way!

Proceeds from this event will be used to support hundreds of individuals with disabilities and their families who rely on the vital resources and social connections provided by our JCC every day. While many of have been able to return to the JCC to continue benefiting from all that our Center has to offer, this population remains at-risk and has not been able to return on-site. To ensure that they continue to receive the resources that they need, we have been providing online group classes with adapted curriculum, direct one-to-one outreach to individuals (and their families/caregivers) to assess needs and provide personalized support, and resources and guidance for parents and caregivers as they navigate uncharted territory. At the JCC no donation is too small, and each and every dollar counts. Your donations help us to provide social, recreational, cultural and educational experiences for individuals with disabilities and can make a significant difference in our community.
