Hunger, mental health, intimate partner violence and social isolation aren’t
just big city problems.

There are so many local challenges that keep our community up at night. In the past, Sleepless in our City participants slept in their cars as a symbolic gesture to help raise dollars and awareness for issues related to poverty and homelessness in our region. Thanks to our participants and many hard-working partners over the years, the conversation around poverty and homelessness is front and center.

Now, issues like hunger, social isolation, intimate partner violence, and mental health, need to become part of the conversation too. COVID-19 has amplified these issues and, as leaders in our communities, it’s important we learn more to take a stand.

You can help too! Make a donation to Elgin or Middlesex or pledge our participants as they pull an all-nighter for United Way. Join the conversation on March 4 and hear directly from participants by tuning into our social media @unitedwayemca. You can help our participants kick-start the conversation around local issues like hunger, mental health, social isolation, and intimate partner violence, so we can come together as a community to address them.
