About THE HUNT 2022

THE HUNT is a county-wide scavenger hunt that features peer-to-peer fundraising for BBBS along with fun and engaging Missions that get HUNTers outside and exploring their local community. This event was new to our agency in 2021, but was extremely successful--we raised over $103,000 with 86 teams and more than 330 participants!

This year, THE HUNT will run April 29th to May 22nd, 2022. Participants will form teams with friends, family, and colleagues, and work together to earn points and compete for prizes. Using a scavenger hunt app, teams submit photos/videos to complete Missions featuring Madison landmarks, local businesses, and fun at-home challenges. HUNTers are also encouraged to use a personalized fundraising page and ask their network for donations to BBBS. Working together in-person or apart, teams will earn points through completing Missions and raising money, with prizes for the top teams.

  • Registration for THE HUNT is $25 for adults and $15 for Bigs in our program. All kids under 18 are free, including Littles in our program.

  • In addition to participating in the event, your registration includes a T-shirt, and some swag bag with goodies from local businesses. 

  • During the registration process, you can register for yourself and for others. If registering other adults, you’ll need to include their email address so they can receive updates about THE HUNT.

  • After registering, you’ll receive an important email with next steps, including information about downloading GooseChase, the scavenger hunt app.

Event Timeline

March 21st-April 9th: Early Bird Registration (register and be entered to win the Scavenger Hunt Advantage Package which includes gift cards, clues for Missions, bonus points and more!) 

April 4th-April 29th: General Registration

     *NOTE: T-shirt size will be guaranteed if registered by April 15th

April 28th-29th: T-shirt and materials pick-up

April 30th: THE HUNT begins!  
      *NOTE: Registration will remain open and you can join anytime throughout THE HUNT

May 22nd: THE HUNT ends!

  • This May, we’re changing things up and introducing THE HUNT: Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2021! We’re inviting companies, Bigs, and community members to create a team and join us for a 30-day city-wide Scavenger Hunt with challenges, prizes, friendly competition, and fundraising for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County.
  • How's it gonna work? It's simple. Each item on The Hunt is assigned a different point value, based on how easy (or not!) it is to find or create. Once you find it? Submit a photo or video to earn points for your team. Items will incorporate bowling, Madison landmarks, supporting local businesses, and more! For some, it’s as easy as finding a certain spot in town. Others might be trickier, like recreating a photo from one of our Matches. What we can promise is that The Hunt will use your creativity, ingenuity, and sense of humor!
  • Each team can decide how to do The Hunt, whether you work together to complete items or divide them up. This flexibility will ensure that everyone can get involved, regardless of who’s on your team or what the public health restrictions are. Hunting with your family? Head out together to find your items! Hunting with co-workers? Have a Zoom to discuss who wants to take on each item, and get going on your own! There’s no wrong way to do it.
  • The Hunt will culminate in a fun (and socially distant!) outdoor celebration event. We’ll have goodies for all, plus some fabulous prizes for our top point-getters. Participants can drive through to get their prizes, or bring a picnic and enjoy a night out with lawn bowling and other fun games and activities. Plus, you’ll have the warm fuzzies knowing you’re giving back to a great cause. Win-win.

    Time For Team-Building

    THE HUNT is a great opportunity for team-building and bonding! Whether it is your friends, colleagues or family you will enjoy a unique and memorable experience together.     There is no cost for children (Littles) to participate in our program. Big Brothers Big Sisters depends on donations raised at this event to accelerate our growth and shorten a Little's wait time, recruit new Bigs to mentor our waiting Littles, and provide the professional support needed to create life-long relationships.
