Tails will be wagging, therapy bunnies will be hopping, and kittens will be purring because you are helping Pet Partners. Thank you for bringing pets and people together in the sweetest way. Here are a few tips for a successful fundraiser:
1. SET A DATE
Treats & Sweets Day is on Saturday, April 30 but you can choose any day in April or the beginning of May that works best for you! Many bakers will choose this day in honor of National Therapy Animal Day.
Be sure to think about virtual options too. You can use Skype, Zoom, Facetime, or Messenger to host your Treats & Sweets Day online. Share your fundraising page with everyone joining and ask guests to donate what they would have contributed to your physical event or incorporate some sweet games you can find in the Tools & Printables section.
2. PICK A VENUE
Where will you be selling your treats? At work? At school? From home? At a Community Partner event? Make sure you have permission to use your space before you start planning.
If you go virtual, decide what your online event looks like. Will it be a virtual bake-off or a knock, drop, and dash in exchange for a donation – take baking orders from your friends, family, or colleagues then deliver treats straight to their doorstep! You could even host an online baking quiz. MasterChef trivia, anyone?
3. PLAN YOUR DAY
How many people will you be inviting? How many treats & sweets do you need to make? Are you the only one baking? Your event will be a lot easier to organize if you know all of these things. Think outside the box to help you raise even more money for therapy animal teams.
If you're hosting a virtual event, be sure to send out a calendar invite through social media with the link, time, date, etc.
4. TELL EVERYONE!
The more people who know about your event, the more treats you will sell and the more money you'll raise for Pet Partners. Super simple.
5. SET TARGETS!
How much do you want to raise? We recommend asking for $3 - $5 per treat. So if you're baking 50 cupcakes, that will raise around $250. If you ask for donations from people who can't attend, it could be closer to $400. Don’t forget to check out our new incentives for your fundraising efforts.
Even with a virtual event, it’s a great idea to identify goals! For online quizzes, sell guess tickets for $2 each and game cards for $5.
6. HAVE FUN!
Party it up with your friends and family over a virtual event, enjoy your favorite sweets and treats. Share your favorite recipes with your guests and with us! Play some virtual games and fundraise from home. Don’t forget to hang up your bunting, and most importantly tell everyone about Pet Partners and the amazing work you do in the community.
7. SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!
Don't forget to share your pictures with us on Facebook & Instagram, and use #TreatsAndSweetsDay when posting online. You might even see your photos on our website.
