TSONS Walk-A-Thon 2021

Fundraising Tips and Tricks

Set A Goal

Set a goal that feels right for your family.  Remember, your goal is achievable if you just break it down!   When you break your goal into smaller donations, it will be easy to reach.

Start With Your Own Donation

Donors are more likely to give if they see you have made your own commitment and donation.  Making a donation of your own lets donors know that TSONS is important to your family.

Ask!

Family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, you never know who will be motivated to give until you ask!

Asking for donations is easier if you pick a method you are comfortable with. But keep in mind that email is the most effective tool. Facebook posts and tweets are likely to get passed by, because they are directed to such a big audience.

So get personal! Email your potential donors individually with a short note telling them why TSONS matters to your family, reach out by phone, and or talk to people in person!

Tax Deductible

Remind donors that any donation made to TSONS is tax deductible.   Also, check to see if your employer has a match program and would be willing to match donations made.

Get Creative!

Share a story on your team page explaining why TSONS is important to you, post a silly thank-you video every time you get a donation, share pictures of your children walking, or come up with a unique idea of your own!  Finding ways to make the fundraising personal for your family will help you get support from donors.
