What is included in my registration fee?

Included in every registration fee is participation in the event, a walker bib, a pair of shoes to wear if you choose, and lunch.

What time does registration begin?

Registration begins at 11:00 AM and will last until 12:00 PM when we begin our event program.

Where is the Walk Route at the event?

We will be walking around Victoria Park, beginning at City Square Plaza, walking east down 12th Avenue, turning on to Lorne Street, then Victoria Avenue, then Scarth Street, and back into City Square Plaza.
An illustrated map will be provided before the event.

Do I need to wear high heels?

No! They are only a recommendation, designed to challenge you to try something difficult, literally ‘walking a mile’ in someone else’s shoes. You are encouraged to wear any kind of red shoe, to visually show your support. A limited number of flat-footed red shoes as well as red shoe decorations will be available on site if you do not have your own red shoes.

Can I bring additional donations on event day?

Yes you can! If you are bringing cash donations on event day, please be sure to fill out our the donation form available at the registration table for any donations. This will make it easy for our team to process your donation.

Who is providing lunch?

Lunch will be provided by Schmitty’s Smoked Meats. If you have dietary restrictions, please reach out to us by emailing events@ywcaregina.com or by speaking to someone at the Registration Table during your check-in. We will provide you with a dietary restriction friendly option.
If you would like to purchase additional food outside of the lunch provided by YWCA Regina, please feel free to do so.

What should I bring with me?

You do not need to bring anything with you! We will provide water, lunch, and everything you need to participate in Walk a Mile in Their Shoes.

Are masks required? Are there any COVID-19 protocols in place?

Masks are not required, but welcomed if you feel most comfortable wearing one. Sanitization will be applied to the various areas as needed, but there are no specific distancing protocols in place per the Government of Saskatchewan. The entire event takes place outside.

If I registered online, do I need to check in at registration?

Yes. All guest registrants, sponsors, participants and dignitaries must check in at the registration table. At the registration table, we will check you in, provide you with your lunch ticket, walker bib, and send you to get your red shoes. Check-in is very important in ensuring guests are all accounted for.

Can you register on event day to walk?

Yes, you can pay to register on Event Day by visiting the Registration Table. Please note: ALL participants must register, and sign a waiver to take part.

Where can I park?

2-hour parking is available throughout downtown Regina. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any special accommodation parking.

How can I engage YWCA on social media?

You can tag YWCA Regina on social media across any network by mentioning us @ywcaregina and use the hashtag #walkamileregina to share your walk on social media

Is the walk route and event wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the route is 100% accessible and on pavement

Are pets allowed?

Pets are welcome. All pets must remain leashed during the event as per City of Regina bylaws.

Will there be photos taken during the event?

Yes, photos will be taken. If you have safety concerns about being photographed, please inform the Event organizers (at the registration table), or inform the photographers present.

How can I identify event organizers if I need assistance?

Event organizers can be identified by heading to the registration table.
