What is happening March 15th - May 6th?
This is when you will register, create your customizable fundraising page and then begin completing activities to earn points! You can complete training miles during this time which will earn you one point per mile. You will also have access to a full list of other activities you can complete to help you earn points. In addition, reach out to your friends and family to ask them to support you by donating! Each dollar you raise earns you a point.
What's happening May 6th - 9th?
This is when you will complete your chosen mile challenge. On May 6th, a new activity will be available on your personal fundraising page where you can set your chosen mile goal. All miles completed during May 6th - 9th will earn you two points per mile.
Where do I find the activities to complete in order to earn points?
After you register, you will find the activities on your personalized fundraising page. They will be on the far left of your screen. Many of them can be completed several times in order to earn you even more points! You also receive additional points for each social media share and for each view of your social media posts!
There is no minimum mile amount, you choose your challenge. Training miles that are completed before May 6th will earn you one point per mile. Event miles completed May 6th - 9th will earn you two points per mile.
There is no minimum but we challenge each team to raise $2,500 and each individual to raise $250. Raising more than these amounts will earn you even more points! You will get one point for each dollar raised.
Each dollar you raise earns you points toward winning prizes like a cheetah walk or sea lion, lion and gorilla tour! You can also earn cool swag for reaching fundraising milestones. Check out the prize page to see prizes and swag. In addition, your fundraising helps to save animals all over the world. These funds go directly to the Zoo's conservation partners that are working every day to save animals in the wild.
Yes! We encourage you to start a team for your family. You may also register as an individual and you will be prompted to add additional registrants during the registration process.
Register by April 5th to guarantee your t-shirt size. However, we recommend you register as early as possible so you can get started earning points by completing activities!
Yes! All prizes can be awarded and redeemed virtually if desired. Milestone prizes for fundraising can be mailed.
All t-shirts and milestone prizes can be picked up at the Zoo April 28th, 29th and 30th.
No, milestone prizes are awarded to individuals for meeting individual fundraising goals. The top overall team will receive a personalized video shout out from a Houston Zoo animal and their keeper.
What if I have checks or cash?
Please mail in any contributions to Houston Zoo, Attn: Development, 1513 Cambridge, Houston, TX 77030. Please make sure you put MFTW and your participant name in the memo line of the check or on a note with your cash. These totals will be added to your fundraising page.
Are there any restrictions for prizes?
Prizes can be awarded virtually if the winner is not local. Prizes and rewards are given to individuals for meeting their individual goals, not to teams, except for the overall top team prize. All animal interaction prizes will be scheduled on a mutually agreed upon date by the Houston Zoo and the winner, which is often on weekdays and must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. All animal interactions are for four (4) individuals and children must be accompanied by an adult. For the cheetah walk, guests must be 12 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult. Prizes may not be combined with any other auction item or event. If you want to enter in the most miles contest, you must record your miles with Strava. If using another fitness app, please submit a screenshot of your completed miles to email@example.com by May 9. Prizes expire 5/31/2022.Who do I contact with additional questions?
