Established in 1988, World AIDS Day, December 1, was the first global health day and honors the memory of those who've died from HIV. Each year since RAIN’s inception in 1992, we have paused to remember those lost and to unite as a community in the fight to stop the spread of the virus. In the early years, we gathered in holy places and on the street corners to read the names of those that had died. Several years ago, we began gathering for a luncheon, sharing news about RAIN, honoring local heroes in the HIV field and hearing from one personally touched by HIV.
The 2024 World AIDS Day Luncheon will be on Thursday, December 5 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, at The Casey, 1801 N. Tryon Street. Our fundraising goal is $100,000 and 100% of the funds raised will go to provide programs and services for people living with HIV and those at risk right here in the Charlotte metro area.
