My journey through the NAFC school system—from Old Lafayette Elementary (now Floyds Knobs) to Floyd Central Junior High and High School—played a significant role in shaping who I am today. At Floyd Central, I was involved in numerous activities, including serving as Vice President of my class, participating in Student Council, being an elected representative at Hoosier Boys State, and playing varsity basketball and golf. One of my most rewarding achievements was helping to raise funds for the Joe Hinton Scholarship Fund and leading the effort to have our basketball court named “Joe Hinton Court.” These experiences not only helped me develop leadership skills but also instilled in me a lifelong love of community involvement.
After graduating from Floyd Central, I attended Catawba College in North Carolina. Over the years, I’ve coached junior high boys and girls basketball for 3 years, spent several years as a professional model, and for the past 44 years, I’ve worked in my family’s business, B.L. Curry and Sons & Curry Veneers. It’s been an honor to help grow our business, which has supplied finished veneers to significant projects, including Air Force One and the Freedom Towers.
Beyond work, I love spending time with my family (many of whom also graduated from Floyd Central), cooking, camping, fishing, and playing golf. I’m also passionate about giving back to our community, having served four years on the Floyd County Planning Commission.
It is a privilege and honor to support the NAFC Education Foundation. I’ve witnessed the incredible impact that supporting others can have, especially through the life of my daughter, Natalie, a 2003 graduate of Floyd Central. Natalie lost her battle with Fanconi Anemia and Interstitial Lung Disease at the age of 27, but her mission to raise awareness for stem cell and cord blood preservation continues to inspire me.
I’ve also learned how kind and generous people can be—often, even those you don’t know personally. This community is full of individuals who genuinely care for one another. Being part of the 2024 Royal Court allows me to carry on that legacy, ensuring our schools and educators have the resources they need to provide students with the same opportunities I had. I'm proud to support the Education Foundation and contribute to the success of future generations.-Brad Curry, Floyd Central High School '75
