Reflecting on my time in the NAFC school system, I’m reminded of how fortunate I was to be part of such a supportive and enriching community. From my days at Pineview Elementary through high school at NAHS, the education and experiences I received helped shape my future. I was actively involved in choir and theatre, with fond memories of performing under the guidance of incredible teachers like Linda DeRungs. Being part of the student section at basketball and football games was another highlight, fostering a deep sense of school spirit that I carry with me to this day.

One teacher who left a lasting impact on me was Jim Dickman, my math teacher. His passion for teaching and dedication to his students truly inspired me. I also have great respect for Don Unruh, who transitioned from being an English teacher to a basketball coach and eventually, the athletic director. Their influence played a significant role in my love for science, math, and overall learning.

Supporting the NAFC Education Foundation is personal for me. My wife, Lindsay, works as a speech-language pathologist in our district, and she sees the needs of our students up close. Our daughters, Shelby (NAHS Class of 2022) and Peyton, a current senior at NAHS, have both benefited from this community.

Programs like Blessings in a Backpack are essential to ensuring kids have the meals they need to succeed. Having served on the Foundation’s board, I’ve seen firsthand how the funds directly support our schools, teachers, and students. That’s why I’m proud to be part of the 2024 Royal Court, giving back to the community that gave me so much.
