BCCS Steps Toward Tomorrow Walk

Funds raised for Barbara C. Wilson Preschool (BCW) will support essential tools and spaces that help our youngest learners communicate, regulate, and participate more fully in their school day.

Early Communication Support (AAC Devices)

Every preschooler at BCW deserves to be supported with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).   Providing access to communication tools during this critical stage of early development helps ensure every child has a way to be heard and participate in their learning environment.  AAC tools help them express their needs, make choices, and connect with those around them.   Walk funds will be used to purchase additional AAC devices (via iPads) so students can begin using communication supports while awaiting devices from their school districts. 

Indoor Sensory Movement Hallways

Young children learn through movement and environmental exploration. Funds will support the development of indoor interactive sensory hallway spaces that provide safe, structured opportunities for movement and sensory play when weather prevents outdoor time. These spaces help preschoolers regulate their bodies, build coordination, interact with their environment and each other and provide an additional opportunity to learn.
