The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our children and families disproportionately in the five boroughs. With the foundation of trust and rapport we have built, Bigs & Littles NYC has taken our work online to continue to guide our matches and provide critical services to the families in need, especially during this time. For more information, please visit www.bigslittlesnyc.org
BONUS: When you register, you will receive a comprehensive training plan created by Coach Sam Tooley - an online endurance coach based out of New Jersey, where he owns a string of gyms under the Alpha Performance & Alpha Fit Club banner. You can find him on Instagram at @coach.samtooley. In addition, you will get access to a quick yoga video from Justin Ifill, @mysticmochayogi so you can stretch before and after walking or running and find your center!
The training plans will be three tiered - meaning for all levels, featuring a beginner, intermediate, and experienced level so you can plug and play and get on the road this Summer knowing you’re putting in the right work!
Your participation will help match a child with a mentor and support more families in need!
Bigs & Littles NYC Mentoring is dedicated to addressing the challenges facing vulnerable youth living in New York City by providing professionally supervised one one-to-one community based mentoring services, supported by life skills programming, crisis intervention, family support and referral assistance. We seek to improve the lives of children, empowering them to recognize, reach for and achieve their full potential.
We know the value that mentoring can bring to youth and families. Our volunteer mentors support their mentees through some of the toughest stages of their lives. Having a mentor and someone to talk to outside of the home has helped our Littles increase their confidence and academic performance, gain exposure to new activities in NYC and ultimately gain a new friend.
Bigs & Littles NYC Mentoring serves children ages 7-17, from low-income, mostly first generation immigrant families. Over 70% of the families we work with are headed by single mothers; and 70% live below the poverty line. Our families come from all neighborhoods in the four larger boroughs, with particular concentrations in the Lower East Side, Brooklyn, Harlem and the South Bronx.
