Since 2018, more than 1,000 patients have participated in a clinical trial at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute.

Over the last five years, Miami Cancer Institute has averaged 200 patient accruals to therapeutic trials annually. Our clinical trials are bringing new treatments in a variety of complex cancers, including pediatric, blood, breast and brain cancer.

Research conducted at Miami Cancer Institute is contributing to the development of advanced methods for utilizing stem cells and immunotherapy, CAR-T-cells, thoracic radiotherapy and transplantation to fight cancer in more precise and less toxic ways.

Accomplishment Highlights

For fiscal year 2023, 298 Active Human Research studies were conducted at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute.

  • 48 Non-Therapeutic studies
  • 85 Retrospective studies

Research at Miami Cancer Institute is focused in several key areas: precision oncology, immunotherapy, brain and solid tumors and early drug development.

The radiation oncology team members regularly publish and present their research and clinical work. For fiscal year, 2023, 73 faculty publications, abstracts and posters and 51 faculty lectures and presentations shared at national and international meetings.
